年末にタイのサムイ島へ家族旅行に行ってきました。

My family went on a trip to Koh Samui, Thailand at the end of the year.

クリスマスツリーと扇風機／X`mas tree and electric fan

クリスマスツリーの隣に扇風機。日本人にはちょっと不思議な光景ですね。

The electric fan is working next to X`mas tree. This is something new to Japanese because X`mas season comes only in winter in Japan.  

ワンダーフードミュージアムペナン／Wonderfood Museum Penang

3週間前にオープンしたワンダーフードミュージアムペナンへ行ってきました。住所は、49, Lebuh Pantai, Georgetown（CIMB Bankの隣）です。

I visited Wonderfood Museum Penang which opened three weeks ago in Georgetown.

Address; 49 Lebuh Pantai, Georgetown(next to CIMB Bank).

でっかいロティカナイ。インド系マレーシア人の朝ご飯。

Big Roti Canai, Malaysian Indian breakfast.

ミニチュアのインド系屋台。店主がロティを作ってます。

Miniature Mamak stall. He is making Roti.

でっかいアッサムラクサ。食中毒で入院して以来、久々のご対面となりました。 

 Big Assam Laksa. I have`t eaten it so long time because it caused food poisoning before and then I was sent to hospital.

お店に一歩入ると、ペナンにいることを忘れてしまうような空間でした。

Once I stepped inside the shop, I forgot I was in Penang. Awesome spot!

三輪車屋さん＠Lebuh Kimberley／tricycle shop@Lebuh Kimberley

トイザらスで手押し棒付き三輪車を探していたら、「ジョージタウンにもっと安くて種類豊富なお店があるよ」と見知らぬローカルのおじさんが教えてくれました。お店の名前はSyarikat Teik Sengと言って、Lebuh KimberleyとJalan Sungai Ujongの交差する角にあります。 

 When I was looking for a tricycle with a push handle at ToysRus, an unknown local man said to me, "there is a tricycle shop that has a wider and cheaper selection of tricycles in Georgetown. Let you know the place". The shop name is Syarikat Teik Seng located at the the junction of  Lebuh Kimberley and Jalan Sungai Ujong.

小さなお手伝いさん／a little maid

娘は1歳8ヶ月になりました。いつも家事の邪魔をしてくるけど、たまにお手伝いしてくれます。小さなお手伝いさん、ありがとね。

My daughter turned twenty months old. She usually disturbs me but sometimes helps me while I`m doing housework. Thank you, dear my little maid.  

渚停＠タンジュンブンガ／Nagisatei@Tanjung Bungah

手打ちうどんが食べられる渚停。

Nagisatei restaurant located at Tanjung Bungah serves homemade Japanese noodle Udon. 

きつねうどん（約450円）は素朴で美味しかった。

Kitsune Udon( RM14) tasted nice and simple.

ざるうどん（約340円）と天ぷら

Zaru Udon(RM10) and Tempura(RM10)

 お店はタンジュンブンガのビーチに直結。

てつおじさんのチーズケーキ／Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake

20年前、一世を風靡した「てつおじさんのチーズケーキ」。中学生か高校生だった私は、並んで買った記憶があります。先日、ガーニープラザ地下にお店がオープンしました。懐かしい味をペナンで食べられるようになって嬉しい。

Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake used to become widely popular all around Japan 20 years ago. I would make long queues to taste this cake when I was a junior(or senior?) high school student. Now the shop opens at Gurney Plaza shopping mall. I`m so happy to meet the nostalgic taste here in Penang! 

猫カフェ／Purrfect cat cafe

問題。娘は何を覗いているのでしょうか？

Question; What is my daughter looking into the sofa chair?

正解は「猫」でした。

Answer; a cat 

Muntri通りにあるペナン初の猫カフェへ行ってきました。

I visited Purrfect cat cafe located at Muntri Street, the first cat cafe in Penang, 

特にお昼寝中の猫には癒されました。

These sleeping cats made me feel better.

また行きたいな。

I`ll come again.

お馬さん／horses

ペナン乗馬クラブのイベントの宣伝に合わせて、ストレーツキーにお馬さんが遊びに来てくれました。

Two horses came to Straits Quay to promote the International Festival with Horses held by Penang turf club.

断乳／stop breastfeeding

ついにこの日を迎えました。Deepavaliの4連休に夫にも協力してもらい娘の断乳を決行。おっぱいはまだ触りたがるけど、飲もうとはしません。出産に次ぐ大仕事だったけど、無事に成功。

The day has come. During Deepavali holidays(four-day weekend), I carried out stopping breastfeeding for my daughter with the help of my husband. She still wants to touch my breasts, but does not want to suck any more.  That`s the toughest work after delivery, but we made it!

髪の毛も結べるほど伸びて、成長を嬉しく思う日々です。

Her hair got longer enough to be tied. I`m glad to see her growing up healthiy.

一品軒／Yi Bin tea house

一品軒で中国茶タイム。

We took a tea break with Chinese tea at Yi Bin tea house.

戸棚にお茶や茶器がびっしり

The cupboard is jammed with Chinese tea and tea warehouse.

水遊びデート／having a play date with a boyfriend

娘は1歳7ヶ月になりました。2ヶ月違いの男の子とテラスで水遊びデート。マレーシアは水道代が極端に安いので、デート代が安くて助かります。

My daughter turned nineteen months old. Today she had a play date with two months younger boy on my terrace. Since water bill in Malaysia is extremely cheap, I don`t  have to worry about the bill even if kids use a lot of water.

旅行後に／after traveling

母と娘でホーチミン＆バンコク旅行に行ってきました。

I visited Ho Chi Minh city of Vietnam and Bangkok of Thailand with my mother and daughter for eight days.

 ペナンに戻ると無性にローカルフードを食べたくなりホーカーへ。カリーミー・ローマイカイ・アイスコピですっかり満たされました。

After coming back to Penang, I was craving Penang food and went to hawker center. Curry Mee,

Lo Mai Gai and Iced Kopi satisfied my appetite.
