Hindu festival, Thaipusam 2014／ヒンドゥー教徒のお祭り、タイプーサム 2014

タイプーサムはマレーシアとシンガポールのヒンドゥー教徒によって行われる一大イベントで、危険な苦行ゆえに他国では禁止されているとか。当日、信者は苦行の一環として自分の身体にかぎ針や槍を突き刺します。

Thaipusam is a significant festival observed by the Hindu community in Malaysia and Singapore. Nowadays it`s prohibited in other countries because its penance is too dangerous. On Thaipusam Day, devotees have their bodies pierced with hocks and spears as an act of penance.

先日、ペナンイチ高級なリゾートホテルに泊まりました。

The other day we stayed at the most luxury resort hotel in Penang, Shangri-La`s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang.

夕食前に敷地内をお散歩。

Before dinner we took a walk within its ground.

ビーチと隣り合わせ。

This hotel is located nearby Batu Ferringgi Beach.

夕飯はホテル内のスパイスマーケットカフェでブッフェ。豊富な多国籍料理・デザートに目移ろいしながら、お腹いっぱい食べました。高いけどここは行く価値あり。

We had buffet-style dinner at Spice Market Cafe and ate so much! They served multi-ethnic cuisines and desserts such as Chinese, Indian, Nyonya-Baba, Japanese, Thai, western and the other international cuisines. The cost of the meal is very expensive, but it`s worth going.

謹賀新年2014年／Happy New Year 2014

明けましておめでとうございます。お正月料理用に奮発してマグロの刺身（200g／750円）と切り餅（8個／600円）を買って、手巻き寿司・お雑煮・お汁粉で新年を祝いました。

Happy New Year 2014! I splurged on some special food for New Year`s dishes, such as raw tuna 200g RM25, 8 pieces of rice cake RM20, and celebrated eating hand-rolled sushi, rice cake soup and sweet red bean soup. 

お汁粉に入れたお餅はローカル仕様のお餅もどき。日本のお餅に似た味で、1袋120円位でとっても経済的。

Instead of rice cake, I used rice ball below. It`s only RM4 per one, tastes similar to Japanese rice cake and quite cheaper.

国立モスク／national mosque, Masjid Negara

This mosque, Masjid Negara in Kuala Lumpur is open to non-Muslims only during certain hours through the day. Visitors must have their legs and arms covered so that robes are provided free of charge. 

クアララルンプールの国立モスク（マスジットネガラ）は、イスラム教徒以外でも一定時間だけ見学ができます。男性も女性も腕や脚を露出しないよう、無料で宗教服のローブを貸してもらえます。

以前、雑誌で見てから気になっていたクアララルンプールの雑貨屋さんにやっと行けました。店内はかわいい雑貨でいっぱい。写真立て3つを買ってもらい大満足でした。

Finally I went to the shop in Kuala Lumpur where I have long wanted to go since I read an article in magazine. There is a lovely collection of housewares, clothes and souvenirs. I got three picture stands and could not ask for more.
