勇敢なちびっ子／brave kid

ライフジャケットを着た中東系の女の子が、

空を指差しながら、なんか話していた。

数分後、パラセイリングで空へ飛び立った。

勇敢！

The right side kid, who was wearing a larger life jacket, was saying something, 

"اللغة العة الع", pointing up at sky,

After a few minutes, she went parasailing higher into the sky with her father.

What a brave kid! 

バトゥ・フェリンギ／Batu Ferringhi

ペナン島北部にあるリゾートビーチエリア。

週末でも空いてて綺麗。

Batu Ferringhi is a resort beach area located in North of Penang.

The beach is kept clean and not crowded even on weekend.

アフターヌーンマーケット／afternoon market

新鮮な食材が並ぶアフターヌーンマーケットへ。

焼き魚用に（多分）鯵を購入。
その場で内臓を取ってくれたので助かった。

I went to afternoon market where fresh fish, meat, vegetable, and fruit etc are sold. 

I bought some whole fishes similar to mackerel for grilled fish.
The store staff removed the guts. He`s so nice!

初めてフライパンで焼いた。
I grilled them in a frying-pan for the first time. 

グリルで焼いたみたいにちゃんと美味しかった。
They were a really nice taste as much as grilled in fish roaster.

見学・宿泊できます。

In the early 20th centuries, a Chinese millionaire who succeeded in business built this mansion.

You can visit and observe, and more, stay there.

木のトンネル／trees tunnel

ペナンの道路は背の高い木で覆われている。

まるで木のトンネルを通ってるみたいで楽しい。

A lot of big trees are standing along both sides of road and street.

They look like trees tunnel. I always enjoy passing there. 

テーブルクロス／table cloth

イメージ通りのテーブルクロスが買えた。

サイズもぴったり。
I bought a new table cloth exactly as I`ve imagined.
It fits well.

ワンピース／cotton dress

コットンのワンピースを買った。
I bought a cotton dress at Sam`s Batik House along Penang street.

エコバックに入れてくれたよ。
They put it in ecology bag printed the shop name.

ランブータン／rambutan

外で食事中、行商が売りにきたランブータン。

蟻がたくさん付いてるのは新鮮な印かな。

Having a lunch at restaurant, a old hawker came to sell rambutan. 

I wonder several aunts mean as being just-harvested. 

肉じゃがと生姜焼き／Nikujaga and Shougayaki

映画『かもめ食堂』で小林聡美が肉じゃがと生姜焼きを作るシーンが好き。

今夜はかもめ食堂になりきりました。

I like the scene in a movie "Kamome sokudou "that a restaurant owner chef Satomi Kobayasi
cooks "Nikujaga" for a guest Hairi Katagiri. And I like another scene that she cooks "Shougayaki" for people visiting her restaurant.
Therefore, I pretended to be a Satomi chef and cooked for husband.

とってもボリューム満点でした（RM3）。

I saw banana pancake stall for the first time.

I got really full when I ate it all(RM3).

It is so cute like Minnie Mouse costume.

アイスカチャン／ice kacang

豆、とうもろこし、ゼリーが入った具沢山のかき氷。

頭がキーンってならないかき氷。

Ice kachang is Malaysian shaved ice with a lot of beans,corns,and jelly.

It does not make people have icecream headache.

ヨーロッパやアジアの生地や食器を販売してます。

There is a imported shop nearby Plaza Gurney.→☆
They sell variety kind of living life goods such as fabric, covers, and houseware imported from Europe and Asia.

 ベトナムのコーヒーカップ（RM25）。悩んだ末、見送りに。
a Viet Nam coffee cup (RM25). After all, I did not buy it.

PORTO MARE（ポルトガル製食器）ぽい花模様の器。

ラスいちだったのでお買い上げ（RM55／2枚）。

a floral design tableware alike PORTO MARE made in Portugal. I took them with me as they were the last ones(RM55/pair).

Chai Diam Ma

リトルインディアにあるカフェ。

喧騒から離れ、静かに休める隠れ家的存在。

There is a coffee shop a little away from Little India. 

You can enjoy relaxing, isolated from street noise.

町のあちこちに宗教寺院がある。

異国にいることを実感する。

There are temples and churches of many faiths. 

Sometimes they remind me of staying in the foreign country.

国政選挙／ Malaysian General Election

2013年5月に国政選挙がありました。

町中、政党の旗だらけ。やりすぎコージー。

During Malaysian General Election previously in May,

a lot of party flags were up everywhere.

What a quite terrible!

政党ポスターの落書きは万国共通。

Graffiti on politician poster is common in all countries.

点心／dim sum

点心（ディムサム）は朝ごはんやランチに中国系の人がよく食べてる。

好きなものを選んでお会計。

Dim sum is a traditional Chinese cuisine for morning or lunch. 

You just choose what you want among various dim sum items and pay after meal.

病み付きになりそう。

You might be addictive to Dim sum. 

ビーチサンダル／beach sandals

地元っ子御用達のビーチサンダル（RM14〜）。

もちろん私も持ってます。

The local people often wear these beach sandals (from RM14).

Of course, I have the one, too.

ハートのなる木／heart tree

ガーニードライブで見つけた。

I found some heart trees along Gurney Drive. 

アイスクリーム／ice cream

アイスが隠れるほどナッツのトッピングがてんこもり（RM1.4）。

He served a ice cream topped with too much peanuts (RM1.4). 

ペナンタイル／Penang ceramic tile

ショップハウスに多用されているペナンタイル（RM20〜）。→☆

マイホームを買ったらキッチンをデコりたいな。

Penang ceramic tiles are often used for shophouse, traditional house in Penang.

I want to decorate my own kitchen with them in the future.

鶏の竜田揚げ／fried chicken

鶏肉は骨付きで売ってることが多い。

下処理は面倒だけど安いので辛抱。

They often sell chicken with bones at the supermarket.
Removing bones before cooking something is a little bit bother for me,
however, they are too cheap to complain.

骨付き鶏もも肉（RM6.99／kg）。500g買っても100円ちょっと。
chichen thigh chops(RM6.99/kg). Only about 100 yen for 500g.

サリーを作るところを見せてもらった。

I visited and observed a sari shop in Little India.  

子どもが描いたような完成図を見ながら仕上げていく。
They are making saris, following a simple pattern as if it were drawn by children.

都会っ子／city girls

ペナンヒルに遊びに来てたムスリムの女の子。

ネイルもカラフルで女の子っぽい。都会っ子だと思う。

I met Muslim girls visiting Penang hill.

Their nails looked colorful and girly. 

I thought they must have come from a big city like Kuala Lumpur.

My husband is currently on a business trip overseas.
I shall unwind like a crow for several days.

アルメニア通りとビーチ通りの角にある新しいカフェ。

アンティーク雑貨や手書き看板がいちいちかわいい。
This new cafe is located at the corner of Armenian Street and Beach Street.
Every vintage stuff and hand painted sign is cute and attractive to me. 

Amelie Cafeが移転したショップでした。

It was previously known as Amelie cafe, currently closed due to renovation.
